What's New for 2023?
The front fascia of the Escape gets a refresh for the latest model year. Changes include a wider grille with the Ford logo featured front and center, a revamped hood, and a redesigned front bumper. The Escape also gets new wheel designs. The trim lineup has been updated, and the previous S, SE, SEL, and Titanium trims have been scrapped, replaced by the Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and PHEV trims. The Sync 4 infotainment system replaces the Sync 3 system, and comes with an available 13.2-inch infotainment system. An eight-inch digital gauge display is now standard.
Trim Levels
The Escape has seven trim levels for customers from Jennings to choose from:
- Base: Include 181-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, an eight-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, LED headlights, and Ford Co-Pilot360.
- Active: Adds a power liftgate, an eight-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, and upgraded cloth upholstery.
- ST-Line: Adds a black mesh grille, a single-wing rear spoiler, body-colored front and rear fascias, and 18-inch metallic painted alloy wheels.
- ST-Line Select: Adds standard all-wheel drive, a choice between a 163-horsepower hybrid engine and a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, a sport handling suspension, LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, and remote start.
- ST-Line Elite: Adds a 12.3-inch productivity screen, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, and an available head-up display.
- Platinum: Adds a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, a hands-free liftgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, a wireless charging pad, a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 360-degree monitor.
- PHEV: Adds a plug-in-hybrid powertrain, available rain-sensing wipers, heated sport bucket seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Performance
The Escape has four engine options for customers in Rayne to choose from:
- Standard 1.5-liter EcoBoost® I-3 engine (180 horsepower and 1999 pound-feet of torque)
- Available 2.0-liter EcoBoost® I-4 engine (250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque)
- Available 2.5-liter I-4 hybrid engine (163 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque)
- Available 2.5-liter I-4 plug-in hybrid (163 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque)
The PHEV powertrain can drive up to 37 miles using only electric power.
Technology
The Escape comes standard with an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen display. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ let you connect your smartphone to the infotainment system. Six speakers come standard, but you can upgrade to an available 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system. An eight-inch digital instrument cluster is standard, while a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available. An available head-up display shows important driving information on the windshield, so you can keep your eyes on the road.
Safety
The Escape comes standard with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of safety features, which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Available Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 adds reverse brake assist, intersection assist, and 360-degree monitor with Split View and front and rear monitors.
